Agfest Promotions Coordinator Heidi Broun says the number of companies registering to exhibit at the field days has increased year on year since the show’s inception in 1983 and this year is no different.

“We have exhibitors coming from the mainland and a few from New Zealand and they’re really supportive of our event,” she says.

“Some of them use (Agfest) as a main launch pad to launch their new products.”

This year’s highlights include an Equine masterclass by Olympic gold medallist Stuart Tinney, and the return of the Agfest Beef Expo.

She adds the three day event is expected to attract over 65,000 patrons.

The first day of Agfest saw bright blue skies and not a drop of rain, effectively lifting the spirits of all event-goers to check out everything the field days has to offer.

From large machinery displays to handmade handicraft; from livestock to gourmet food made from quality Tasmanian produce, there is something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

The three-day event, also touted one of the biggest agricultural field days in the country, is taking place at the Quercus Rural Youth Park in Carrick, Tasmania.  It will run until Saturday May 3.
