Situated roughly 60km south east of Darwin, the Coastal Plains Research farm is essential to the Top End’s environment, and its new Nobili mulcher is set to get stuck into the farm’s 130ha property.

The Nobili BNU195 is designed to be a multi-purpose machine, fitted with hinged tailboards, a mulching bar for fine mulch with the height controlled by adjustable skids.

Other key features of the BNU195 include its standard universal 01 ‘Y’ blades, the PTO drive shaft with a safety cover, a heavy duty oil bath gearbox with overrun clutch, taper locked pulleys and electronically balanced rotor.

Silvan recommends the machine be used with a tractor of 70-90hp.

Weighing just over half-a-tonne and with a 1.94m working width, the BNU195 is designed to undertake many roles around the farm, including grounds maintenance and mowing, regular mulching of crop residues, stubbles and pruned materials and end-of-season pruning, CPRF Manager Peter Hopkinson says.

The new Nobili mulcher will also play a key role in the returning of organic matter to the soil, he says.

“We have used an older mulcher for many years but chose to purchase the new Nobili BNU195/01 mulcher because of the excellent durability and the ready break down of the harder and larger diameter pruning materials that result as end-of-season residues,” he says.

The Nobili was supplied by Humpty Doo-based Silvan Australia master dealer Farm World NT, which specialises in tractors and associated rural equipment.

Optional features include a full-width rear roller, semi-swivel wheels, and directional vanes to direct cover under vines, wear plate and a hydraulic side shift.
