John Deere has introduced its mid-range 6M series tractors in Australia, with horsepower ranging from 105 to 170hp.
John Deere says the new range offers more power, functionality and operator comfort compared to its 6030 predecessor range, and is suitable for use on livestock, arable and specialty farms.
The range features seven models altogether – the 6105M, 6115M, 6125M, 6130M, 6140M, 6150M and 6170M.
The 6115M, 6125M, 6130M and 6140M are equipped with Stage IIIB compliant 4.5-litre four-cylinder John Deere PowerTech PVX engine, while the larger 6150M and 6170M are powered by a Stage IIIB 6.8-litre six-cylinder John Deere PowerTech PVX engine.
The fuel-efficient diesel-only engines feature cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) and an exhaust filter.
For the budget conscious, the 6105M, 6125M, 6140M and 6170M models offer the option of USA Tier 2 compliant PowerTech E engines.
John Deere’s PowrQuad and AutoQuad Plus transmissions allow smooth gear changes on the move, assisted by a standard declutch button. A newly added EcoShift mode reduces engine rpm automatically when reaching high speeds, effectively improving the machines’ fuel efficiency and reducing the noise levels.
The 6M series tractors also feature a closed-centre pressure and flow compensated hydraulic system that can accommodate up to four mechanical selective control valves (SCVs) in the rear and three mid-mounted mechanical independent control valves.
The system, delivering up to 114 litres/min is available on all models and is designed to offer more power and faster response rimes to operators.
The cabs feature a number of enhancements such as a newly designed dashboard with an integrated display to facilitate machine settings. By producing useful information to the operator, the display can also be used as a performance monitor.
Some other options available with the range include tyre sizes of up to 2m, ex-factory front hitch and PTO, an iTEC Basic headland management system that helps the operator automate multiple functions simultaneously; and a John Deere front loader tailored to match the tractor.
John Deere’s 6M series is also GreenStar and ISOBUS ready.
