New Holland expands mower-conditioner range

Two new center-pivot models – the Discbine 313 and Discbine 316 have been added to New Holland’s current mower-conditioner line-up.

With a cutting width of 4m and 4.95m respectively, New Holland says the new models are designed for cleaner cutting, more efficient crop flow and smoother, more effective conditioning.

The new Discbine series contains several new features compared to its predecessor H7000 series such as a 22.5 per cent wider conditioning system, larger disc cutterbars, simplified drivelines and a new biomass kit for working in higher crops.

“The larger discs and a wider conditioning system and these new Discbine models combine to provide cleaner cutting, better crop flow and more consistent drying in all types of crops,” New Holland Hay Products Product Manager Tony Peters says.

Its WideDry conditioning system is 22.5 per cent wider than that of the H7000 series and allows the crop mat to flow more smoothly and evenly through the wider rolls for more consistent conditioning and faster dry down.

Compared to the H7000 series’ MowMax disc cutterbar, the new models’ Mowmax II system features larger discs with bigger gears, bearings and interconnecting shafts for maximum durability and the protection of the disc drive belts.

New Holland says the larger disc diameter allows a closer cut with less cutterbar tilt for consistent cutting height without crop scalping.

In addition, the MowMax II cutterbar is designed with individually sealed disc drive modules so if the mower hits an obstruction in the field, the damage is isolated and fully contained within the module.

The new models also feature a two-speed conditioning system so operators can adjust the roll speed to suit various types of crops. For better cut quality in lighter crops, the sheaves on the roll drive can be switched to slow the roll speed form 750rpm to 640rpm.

A new LeaningEdge flails, which lies at a 20 degree tangent, allows for faster drying of hay by pushing the crop against the adjustable hood for more aggressive conditioning. The flails release at the ideal moment to prevent carry-around for uniform, fast-drying swaths or windrows.

Another new feature of the Discbine models is a new biomass kit suitable for working in higher crops. It includes extra-high skid shoes for the increased cut height and longer stubble desired in these crops.

A separate push-bar kit is available to push crop forward and allow for a wider range of cut heights.
