New Hustler chainless bale feeder arrives in Australia

New Zealand farm implement manufacturer Hustler Equipment has introduced its new Chainless X5000 bale feeder featuring a stronger drive system and rear-view camera to the Australian market.

The Chainless X5000 was released following three years of development and 20 months of field testing on farms in Australia, New Zealand and America. Hustler says the unit answers to the evolving demands of feeding animals brought about by climatic changes, variations in bale types, and the need to make feeding out easier for operators of all skill levels.

The Chainless X5000 has been designed to feed out bales of all shapes, sizes and material; whether it be round or square bales made of alfalfa, luscerne or sorghum.

According to Hustler, the chainless feeding system means lower maintenance and a quieter operation, allowing livestock to be more comfortable around the machine.

A new feature on the Chainless X5000 is the axial rotor with centralising paddles to keep bales positioned in the centre of the feeding chamber for minimum wastage and to provide better grip on soft bales.

The wider and deeper feeding chamber allows operators to feed out a wider range of bales and eliminates the need for constant platform adjustment, hence making light work of feeding out bales.

The Easy Clean Hypaflo Wiper Panel clears hay from the rotors effectively to prevent blockages and features a quick release latching system for easy cleaning.

A stronger, more powerful drive system installed at the rear of the feeder improves the manoeuvrability of the feeder and allows it to handle bigger, heavier bales.

The single hydraulic ram Total Control 2 loading system makes bale loading faster and safer with the Chainless X5000. It allows the unwrapping of the bale above the feed cradle, hence reducing waste. If the operator decides not to load the bale, the system can be reversed.

Hustler claims the Chainless X5000 is the first bale feeder on the market to feature an optional Loadcam rear view camera to help operators line up the bales more precisely.

Missouri beef ranch owner Mark Mahnken who has been using the Chainless X5000 on his operation has been pleased with the machine so far.

“The CHX5000 has performed well in our operation, as a bale unloader in our bunker silo where we load the hay directly into our feed trucks as well as unloading big bales directly into fence line bunks,” he says.

“It has replaced a large industrial tub grinder which was expensive to operate and maintain.”

Dairy farmers across Australia have also credited the Chainless X5000 for its stability and smoothness of operation in different terrains.
