Hay and tillage equipment expert Poettinger claims its new Novacat S10 mower combination can cover 11 hectares per hour with a power requirement of only 130hp, offering users high productivity at a low input cost.
The 9.52m wide machine was designed to perform on corners and provide sufficient overlap between front and rear mowers. It can be mounted at two different positions on the boom to work with 3m or 3.5m wide front mowers.
To achieve best possible ground hugging for sward protection, the Novacat S10 uses hydraulic weight alleviation. A clearly-visible pressure gauge fitted to the mower frame indicates ground pressure which can be adjusted progressively if needed using a double-acting remote valve.
One filling sets the right alleviation to guarantee uniform pressure on the ground for optimum forage and soil conservation.
Poettinger’s Novacat cutter bar with quick-change blades comes standard with the new S10 model. The streamlined mower discs have been designed to achieve perfect crop flow while an optimised counter-chop zone and overlap of blade paths ensure optimum cutting quality.
The centre pivot suspension on the Novacat S10 allows movements of +-22 degrees, allowing a lifting clearance at headlands of about 50cm.
A small cylinder stabilises the mower unit for easier turns and better stability at the headland as well as during transport while protecting the PTO shaft.
A hydraulic collision safety device gives the machine optimum protection and a longer service life.
During transport, the mower can be folded 90 degrees backwards by a double-acting hydraulic connection while the front guards folds up automatically. Poettinger says this gives the machine a low transport width of just 2.2 metres for safe transportation.
The Novacat S10 can be parked in either the working position or in the road transport position.
According to Poettinger, operating the Novacat S10 is a breeze where only one double-acting connection is needed. Individual mower unit lifting is done using a standard preselect rocker switch.
To move the mower combination into the transport position, users only need to press a switch and actuate the spool valves, no lanyard required.
