MacDon R1 mowers designed for tough crop conditions

Hay and harvesting equipment specialist MacDon has launched its new R1 series pull-type rotary disc mower conditioners featuring several upgrades including an improved transport width and conditioning functions.

Featuring two models – the R113 and R116, the series has been designed to help operators cut faster, cleaner and for longer in the harshest of conditions.

A prominent new feature of the R1 series is the 9 feet (2.75m) road friendly transport option that allows the mower to switch from field widths of 16m for the R116 and 13m for the R113 to 2.75m in 30 seconds.

This option is ideal for operations where width restrictions apply or where contractors need to transport the mower to and from different locations on a frequent basis.

The new R1 series also features a new responsive float system which moves the mower “up and back” where bumps are encountered in the field. MacDon says this unique movement results in true and even ground following and helps ensure a clean, smooth cut.

Featuring what the company claims are the industry’s widest conditioning rolls at 129 inches (328cm), the R1 series provides operators a variety of conditioning options.

Four interchangeable conditioning systems are available with the series including a steel and polyurethane inter-meshing rolls, finger conditioner, or no conditioner.

Another feature on the R1 series is the low profile forward mounted cutterbar which, coupled with the quick float response makes for clean, smooth and even cutting.

In addition, the series’ redesigned chassis with a wide wheel stance and excellent crop clearance below the frame allows for well-formed windrows and therefore better harvesting.
