The winner of each category in the Machine of the Year competition was decided upon by an independent panel of agricultural journalists from across Europe with Fendt’s 1000 Vario tractor ultimately bagging the Machine of the Year 2016 ‘audience favourite’ award.

Valtra marketing director Mikko Lehikoinen says winning the awards mean a lot to the company.

“It’s very important to us because earlier this year we won the Machine of the Year award (at SIMA) with our T series tractors and now again these awards with the N series,” he says.

“It’s the perfect recognition for our fourth generation product launches.”

The new Valtra N series 4-cylinder tractors will be replacing the existing N range and features a completely new design with six models ranging from 105 to 185hp.

“It is really a versatile tractor, you can use it for general farming tasks, arable farming, road driving…it’s a perfect front loader tractor as well so you can set it up very easily with our systems to do the tasks at hand,” he says.

The range comes with four transmission choices: HiTech, Active and Versu – which are all five-step powershift transmissions; or Direct- a stepless transmission.

Valtra powers up the range with an AGCO Power engine with SCR only and a 600-hour service interval, keeping cost of ownership low for customers.

The N4 series’ cabin has also been completely redesigned and now features a new Valtra Arm armrest with joystick control and advanced precision farming tools such as the AgCommand telemetry system for efficiency.

Another new feature of the fourth generation N series is the ASR which is a slip control system launched along with the tractor range.

Lehikoinen says visitors have been impressed with the tractors’ compact size and versatility.

He adds the series will make its debut in this part of the world sometime next year.

“This year we launched the T4 range in Australia and New Zealand and it has really taken off but we know the N series is the best-selling range over there because of the dairy market,” he says.

“I know our dealers are coming for training in the beginning of 2016 so you’ll see this product soon in Australia and New Zealand.”
