Tested: Kubota BX25D sub compact tractor

Kubota’s BX25D 23hp diesel tractor with frontend loader, backhoe and mower attachments could make your job a whole lot easier, Tom Dickson reports

In one of his most complete and thorough tests so far, NewFarmMachinery’s Tom Dickson is about to find out if Kubota’s 4WD, three cylinder  BX25D tractor can deliver the goods in a variety of different working environments.

Will its 23.5 litres per minute hydraulic pump provide sufficient oil flow to operate the attachments? Tom puts the BX25D tractor and BT 602 backhoe to work digging 40cm deep trenches to lay pipes for stock water.

He also checks out whether the Kubota BX25D will be agile enough with its frontend loader attached to effectively clean out years of dirt and muck built up in the property’s cattle and sheep yards.

Can it fit through narrow gates and is it capable of turning on concrete surfaces? Will it have enough traction to fill the 0.17 cubic mtr bucket every time?

Tom puts the 3 blade, 60’inch, mower deck through its paces at the Caramut Football Club under the critical gaze of long time groundsmen and keen onlookers.

For the women out there who are tired of waiting for their husbands to complete physically demanding jobs around the home, you could be about to be introduced to his replacement.
