With big names like John Deere and Deutz-Fahr taking up huge slices of the tractor market, it makes one wonder how well a lesser known brand like Kioti from South Korea will fare next to its Western counterparts.

Tom Dickson recently got hold of a brand new Kioti PX1002 tractor to do a detailed test review. The tractor is the biggest workhorse among a line-up of Kioti tractors recently released not only in Australia but the world.

An outstanding feature of the new range, and one Kioti is extremely proud of, is its new European power shuttle transmissions in a bid to compete with the other big guns in the market.

For the test, Dickson handled a variety of implements such as a 2.4-metre six-disc mower, 3,000-litre sprayer with hydraulic boom and an 18-plate one-way disc plough with the PX1002 to see what it is truly made of.

Suffice to say, for a hobby farming tractor, it punched above its weight and excelled.
