Victoria’s Bendigo Livestock Exchange roof project will protect lamb and sheep from extreme weather at the selling complex
The Victorian Budget 2026/27 has announced $1.7 million will be invested in the first phase of the Bendigo Livestock Exchange roof project, strengthening a critical regional hub for the sale of lamb and sheep.
The Bendigo Livestock Exchange is a fully accredited sheep and cattle selling complex under the National Saleyard Quality Assurance Program, supporting farmers across central Victoria.
The first stage of works will support construction of the roof for the holding yards, improving animal welfare and protecting livestock from extreme weather, while helping producers get their stock to market efficiently.
“The Bendigo Livestock Exchange is vital to the sheep and lamb industry, and this will ensure it continues supporting farmers and regional jobs for years to come,” Victorian agriculture minister Michaela Settle says.
The Victorian government will continue to work with the City of Greater Bendigo as planning progresses for future stages of the upgrade.
“This upgrade is about backing Bendigo’s future – giving farmers the modern facilities they need to grow their businesses and keep our regional economy moving,” Victorian member for Bendigo Maree Edwards says.
