Australian Farm Machinery Sales

The Australian farm and agricultural machinery sales market is a competitive and significant one, with Australian famers having access to one of the widest ranges of new and used farm machinery than any other farmers in the world.

The Australian farm equipment sector is experiencing one of the
strongest sales growths since the 1980’s, despite the global
economic crisis and challenging seasonal circumstances. During the
2008-09 new tractors sales topped the $1 billion mark. Sales of
compact tractors have risen significantly, with farmers purchasing
more high powered machines with higher specifications.

The sale of new and used farm machinery such as small and large
rectangular balers also remains in growth, with the demand for hay
and silage products remaining strong. Self-propelled sprayer sales
have also been on the increase. The sale of used farm machinery
also continues to be robust to meet the current demand.

This substantial growth in farm machinery sales was supported by
the Federal Government’s decision to boost the depreciation
allowances on capital investments offered to business as part of
Australia’s economic stimulus package. The growth in sales of farm
machinery and equipment demonstrates that the industry is in a
sound financial position.
