Coming Soon: Top Tractor Shoot Out 2015

The trans-Tasman’s top tractor brands will go head-to-head in a landmark shootout to be staged in late March by New Farm Machinery and sister title Farm Trader NZ.

The countdown is on for the New Farm MachineryFarm Trader NZ Top Tractor Shoot Out, being hosted this year from March 25 to 27 at the South Island Agricultural Field Days at Kirwee, Christchurch in New Zealand.

The annual Top Tractor Shoot Out sees Australia’s and NZ’s leading farm machinery multimedia brands line up some of the leading trans-Tasman tractor brands — and test them together in the same paddock, in the same setting and with the same team of drivers.

The New Farm Machinery-Farm Trader NZ team will put them through their paces for the duration of the field days and also challenge them with some cultivating tasks.

It’s a massive undertaking and this year, given the economic climate, we’re putting 6 cylinder tractors in the $140,000 price range under the spotlight.

This workhorse selection of tractors should prove useful to most farmers from Australia and NZ.

We’re out to find you the best value-for-money, as well as looking at everything from build quality and user friendliness to performance and innovation.

Our judging team will be made up of three of Farm Trader NZ’s finest machinery testers, Jaiden Drought, Brent Lilley and Mark Fouhy, plus New Farm Machinery’s Tom Dickson.

Last year we tested six tractors in our Top Tractor Shoot Out: the John Deere 6115M, Case IH Maxxum 110 XS, Deutz-Fahr Agrotron K420, Valtra N113, Claas Arion 530 CIS and Massey Ferguson 5445.

This year we’re putting together an equally impressive line-up of contestants (to be revealed later this month), all with the aim of giving readers as much fair and impartial information as we can, so when it comes to making your tractor decision, you will be so well informed even the tractor sales teams will be impressed.

Come and meet us at the event — there’ll be plenty of opportunity to mingle with the New Farm Machinery-Farm Trader NZ team and check out the tractor selection.
