The Case IH 3000H On-Combine Grain Analyser, which monitors grain protein in cereals and oil percentage in oilseeds when fitted to a combine during harvest, is now available in Australia.
Real-time quality mapping information from the unit on the outside of the combine harvester is fed to a 10-inch touchscreen display inside the cabin.
The analyser is available for delivery with new MY16 Axial-Flow 140 and 240 Series combines, and can also be retrofitted to older Case IH harvesters.
South Australian farmer Terry Schmucker has already used the analyser and says the data it provides can help to compare yield maps to grain protein maps and to assess the efficiency of fertiliser.
“The data’s been really exciting because it’s showed up areas that have high-yield high-protein, high-yield low-protein, low-yield high-protein and low-yield low-protein,” Schmucker says.
“With information from the 3000H, we can better understand what’s going on and target our fertiliser more effectively.”
The area that Schmucker farms in has a long history of drought, so he says it’s even more important to know what’s going on, in terms of nutrient-levels within the crop.
The Case IH 3000H On-Combine Grain Analyser also provides farmers with the ability to segregate grain in the paddock based upon its quality, and to blend grain to maximise farm gate pricing.
The 3000H On-Combine Grain Analyser also measures grain moisture, which is a feature that Schmucker has found to be useful.
“The moisture calculator on the 3000H is very accurate and consistent with the local silos,” he says. “With the 3000H we have confidence that when we reap, we know exactly what the moisture level is.”
