Case IH debuts Farmall M

Case IH has added to its utility tractor range with the Farmall M, which boasts an ActiveDrive 4 powershift transmission and 5400kg lift capacity.

Case IH’s new Farmall M has made its Australian debut at the FarmFest Field Days at Toowoomba this week, with the manufacturer saying the new models are upping the ante among utility tractors.

The Farmall M is a new addition to the broader Farmall Series, which includes the Farmall B, C, JX, JXM and U Series, says Seamus McCarthy, Case IH Australia and New Zealand product manager for mid horsepower and compact tractors.

“Case IH’s utility tractor range is strengthened by the introduction of the Farmall M, combining many of the best Farmall features such as the Farmall U’s SPS transmission, hydraulics, brakes and Electronic Draft Control (EDC) and Farmall JX’s superior engine and front axle design,” he says.

“The cab is also from the JX although there has been some refinery there because the ergonomics are based around the Farmall U. For enhanced comfort, we have repositioned the air-conditioning to give a little bit more cab space.”

With both 90 horsepower and 110hp models, the Farmall M models come with Case IH’s new ActiveDrive 4 automatic transmission, replacing the clutch with buttons for seamless gear shifting.

The ActiveDrive 4 semi-powershift transmission covers a wide range of speeds, from 0.28 km/h to 40 km/h, with a total of 32 forward and 32 reverse gear options.

The Farmall M tractors have a powerful S8000 engine, standard in all models, along with a Tier 3 emission level, four cylinders, turbo-intercooler and high torque values.

The tractors have electro-hydraulic components and an electro-hydraulic power take-off clutch with three different speeds (540, 540E and 1000 rpm) and an automatic PTO function, designed to complete easy row-end manoeuvres when combined with its automatic 4WD and differential lock.

Both models also have a hydraulic lift capacity of 5400 kg, six hydraulic outlets, fender-mounted hydraulic controls, a hydraulic top link and a standard electronic hitch control system for easy attachment control.

Inside, the cab is spacious with air-conditioning, ergonomic control levers, an air-suspension seat and sunroof.

Case IH says the Farmall M will suit a variety of farm businesses, including dairies and beef cattle operations, as they possess the adaptability needed for a variety of tasks in a range of conditions.

“The Farmall range represents our smaller horsepower tractors, but these tractors have always been big on performance and features,” McCarthy says.

“The Farmall M is a perfect refection of this and represents customer expectations that our increasingly sophisticated technology isn’t reserved only for our larger tractors, but that it’s also incorporated at the lower end of our tractor line-up.”
