Tilt trays – while comprising just 0.585 per cent of stock – accounted for 7.3 per cent of searches across the Bauer Media Group classifieds network in the first five months of 2019
Prime movers were the most-searched truck class on the Bauer Media Group truck and machinery classifieds network in the period January 1-May 22, 2019, exclusive new data reveals.
Almost 6,000 used trucks – from Atkinsons to Whites – are currently advertised for sale across the network comprising Fullyloaded.com.au, OwnerDriver.com.au, TradeTrucks.com.au, TradeEarthmovers.com.au, TradeFarmMachinery.com and TradePlantEquipment.com.au – reaching an average of almost 500,000 ‘unique’ in-market buyers each and every month.

Prime movers, which account for just over 25 percent of total trucks for sale, generated 24 percent of searches in the period, ahead of tippers, which were responsible for almost 23 per cent of searches despite comprising a substantially less 17 per cent of stock.
Surprisingly, tilt trays – while comprising just 0.585 per cent of stock, accounted for 7.3 per cent of searches; and livestock trucks, despite comprising just 1.27 per cent of stock, generated 5.6 per cent of searches.
Rounding out the top 5, crane trucks were responsible for 4.7 per cent of searches, despite comprising just 2.99 per cent of stock.
‘Siders draw interest
As well as being the most searched, prime movers also generated the greatest number of enquiries of all truck types on the Bauer Media Group truck and machinery classifieds network for the period January 1-May 22, 2019.
The truck class generated 30 per cent of enquiries in the period, well ahead of tippers (16 per cent) and tray trucks (9 per cent).
Despite comprising just one per cent of searches, curtain-siders accounted for 7.18 per cent of enquiries. Pantechs – while totalling only 1.4 per cent of searches – generated 6.2 per cent of enquiries.
Rounding out the top 10 were cab chassis (5.38 per cent), crane trucks (3.68 per cent), tilt trays (2.6 per cent), water trucks (2.42 per cent) and refrigerated trucks (2.15 per cent).
Engines drive enquiry
Aside from trucks, which account for almost 84 percent of searches and more than 72 per cent of enquiries, buses were the most-searched and most-enquired-upon product type on the Bauer Media Group classifieds network for the period January 1-May 22, 2019.
Despite accounting for just 2.1 per cent of stock, buses generated 8.14 percent of searches and 11.63 per cent of enquiries in the period.
Powertrains, which make up 11.4 per cent of stock, accounted for 1.2 per cent of searches and an out-sized 7 per cent of enquiries; while transportable buildings accounted for 4.7 per cent of searches and 3.7 per cent of enquiries – despite comprising less than 1 per cent of stock.
Rounding out the top 5, forklifts generated 2.7 per cent of enquiries off just over 0.5 per cent of searches.
