New cutting chamber design to improve performance
A range of six rotary cutters launched by John Deere will perform better than their predecessors thanks to a new deck and cutting chamber design, the company says.
Deere spokesperson Cristina Guzman says the new cutting chambers on the John Deere were designed to control air flow under the deck, while their larger volume allows the unit to operate at higher speeds without reducing quality.
“This improves cutting performance and cut material distribution from below the deck while reducing material accumulation on top of the cutter deck,” she says.
Up front, a new suspended front mount improves machine stability by isolating the movement of the cutter deck relative to the tractor and vice versa.
“This helps reduce stress on the machine while delivering a comfortable ride for the driver,” Guzman says.
The six models in the lineup replace the CX Flex-Wing rotary cutter series in Australia, and come in a variety of working widths and configurations for mowing anything from pastures to road sides, grass to crop stalks.
They include the E12 (3.6m wide) and E15 (4.5m) E-Series cutters, the M15 (4.5m) and M20 (6.1m) M-Series cutters and the top end R-Series cutters – the R10 (3m), the R15 (4.5m) and R20 (6.1m) models.
E-Series cutters feature a 56 kW (75 hp) gearbox and Category 4 driveline. A 74.5 kW (100 hp) gearbox and Category 5 driveline are base equipment on the M-Series, with an option to upgrade to a higher-performing 93 kW (125 hp) gearbox with Category 6 driveline.
All R-Series cutters feature a new 93 kW (125 hp) gearbox and Category 6 main driveline for more capacity, improved durability and performance.
A new torsional rear suspension system is an option for the M Series and is included in the base package for the R-Series, which Deere says improves both machine stability and cutting height.
“This is the same field-proven technology that’s been available on John Deere windrowers for more than a decade,” it says.
