Crowds browsed rows of machinery at this year's Elmore Field Days. Here is the second part of our event wrap
Agricultural machinery was in abundance in northern Victoria last month for the annual Elmore Field Days.
Sunny weather across the three days contributed to healthy numbers through the door and a positive mood among visitors, for what was the event’s 61st staging.
Manufacturers and dealers from Victoria and beyond displayed their wares, which was complemented by an agribusiness pavilion and family-focused exhibits and activities.
Here is the second part of our series showcasing machinery on display at the event:
McCormick tractor
Clark Equipment showed off a selection of its McCormick tractors, including the S90 Max.
This is a 90hp tractor powered by a four-cylinder turbo engine and offering a fully enclosed and air-conditioned cabin.
Two sets of rear hydraulic outlets and two-speed PTO make this an ideal unit for general purpose farming.
Manufactured in Italy, it also offers a simple design for ease of use without any compromise on performance.
JCB telehandler
JCB products were represented at Elmore by dealership Michael’s Group.
In addition to the popular Fastrac tractors, a selection of JCB telehandlers was also on display.
One of these was the 560-80 Agri Super, the most powerful model in JCB’s agricultural range with a 145hp engine, 7.9m maximum lift height and 5,500kg lift capacity.
This unit is ideal for big jobs, particularly as it is supported by a Z-bar linkage which provides a tough telescopic boom and achieves significant breakout force.
Rata claw
Rata Equipment’s Power Claw has rapidly grown in popularity for its ability to handle many farm jobs.
A selection of these were on display at Elmore to highlight the variety of machinery it can be used on, including tractors, small loaders and telehandlers.
Rata produces a compact, mid-range and standard Power Claw, with the machinery size determining which is best for individual needs.
Acting as an alternative to a four-in-one bucket, it has the added benefit of its claw-like nature providing extra grip and durability when handling logs and smaller debris.
John Berends slasher
Melbourne-based John Berends Implements had its twin-rotor slashers among a variety of implements on display.
These heavy-duty slashers are available in three-point linkage models for its 2.4m, 3m and 3.6m varieties, along with trailing models in the 3m and 3.6m sizes.
Two-plate adjustable slip clutches are fitted between each gearbox for protection, with a 110hp gearbox in the centre driving two 75hp outer gearboxes.
Front and rear chains are fitted as standard, while a 6mm top deck reinforced by RHS provides excellent strength on these units.
Kerfab brush
Victorian attachments manufacturer Kerfab had the ActiSweep Megabrush as part of its Elmore exhibit.
Designed to efficiently clean and remove mould, particularly across large surfaces, it is suitable for several industries including agriculture for its ability to clear grain, silage, compost and other small loose materials.
The model on display was the V9-2400, which has nine rows of bristle across a 2,450mm width and is compatible with tractors, telehandlers and forklifts.
Kerfab also won the Life Governor’s Award for the best overall exhibit at this year’s Elmore Field Days.
Deere combo
Represented by dealer Haeuslers, the versatility and compatibility of John Deere machinery was on display.
On display at Elmore was an X9 1100 combine harvester paired with its HD45R rigid cutterbar draper to showcase the manufacturer’s grain harvesting options.
The X9 1100 is a big unit, with a 16,210L power folding grain tank, 186.7L/second peak unload rate and its engine providing a maximum power of 690hp.
The HD45R is designed to achieve consistent stubble height, can quickly adjust the float pressure and has factory installed grain saver draper belts to reduce cutterbar loss.
Leopard ejector
Manufactured close to Elmore in the Victorian town of Kyabram, JN&R Engineering’s Leopard ejector has attracted attention both domestically and from the international market.
Improving on the manufacturer’s popular LE model, the Leopard provides farmers with increased load capacity, versatility and towing efficiency.
The L12.0E model on display provides a 3,600m cutting width, heaped capacity of 11.75 cubic metres and suits tractors around 375hp.
JN&R says the Leopard’s ability to handle a variety of soil conditions, particularly muddy environments, has made it a popular choice.
Househam sprayer
British-made Househam sprayers were on show at Elmore, with a sign proudly declaring these units can be custom-built to suit individual needs.
The sprayer on display was part of its Harrier range, which is one of four standard models offered by Househam and which is described as being ideal for professional operators.
It can be provided with 4,000L, 5,000L and 6,000L tanks, up to 1100mm underbody clearance and with plenty of twin-fold and triple-fold boom options.
These self-propelled units also stand out for their narrow wheelbase, light overall weight and Total Machine Control operation.
Kuhn baler
One machine on display at Kuhn’s stand was its SB 1290 iD large square baler.
Designed with an ‘intelligent-density’ model, it produces bales of 120cm by 90cm size and it powered by Kuhn’s patented Twinpact double plunger system.
This helps to provide up to 25 per cent higher density for all crop conditions compared to conventional large square balers, the manufacturer says.
Other improvements compared to other Kuhn balers include an upgraded bale channel, driveline and transmission components.
