Gallery: Henty Machinery Field Days 2013

Sub-par weather and muddy grounds failed to stop the crowds from streaming in as the 50th Henty Machinery Field Days (HFMD) opened its doors on September 17.

The iconic annual mixed farming field days ran from September 17-19, 2013.

Now in its 50th year, the Henty Machinery Field Days 2013 had more than 800 exhibitors sign up to display their wares and visitor numbers was expected to hit the 60,000 mark.

To celebrate its half-a-century milestone, the HFMD crew commemorated its long-running history by producing and presenting a documentary showcasing its social history with reflections by volunteers, exhibitors, directors and farmers.

Despite the name of the event, the field days was not only graced by the presence of farming machinery but also fashion, farm animals, produce, and financial services; just to name a few.

Another highlight of this year’s event was the Fifty Years of Fashion Parade which saw a collection of garments drawn from local families from 1963 to 2013 go down the runway.

Other highlights of the show include the annual Henty Machinery of the Year competition, whereby an award was handed to the exhibitor with the best piece of agricultural machinery on display at the show.

HMFD Chariman Ross Edwards says the committee strives to present a balanced program and wide range of exhibits for the public who attend year after year.

“Looking to the future, the HFMD board and senior staff are continually striving to take Henty to the next level,” he says.

“We have a balance of experience and youth to ensure a smooth transition to the next generation.”
