Event: Wimmera Machinery Field Days 2017

The Wimmera Machinery Field Days 2017 aims to be a showcase of the latest developments in farming practice, machinery, equipment, technology and services.

The Field Days committee — made up of regional volunteers — has managed the nonprofit event, the Wimmera-Mallee’s largest annual community gathering, since 1963, and says it has maintained a long-term charter to foster innovation and development in primary production and agribusiness.

“The Field Days acts as a barometer for social, economic, agricultural prosperity and growth in the entire region,” the committee says.

“Hosted at its purpose-built site at the Wimmera Events Centre at Longerenong near Horsham in western Victoria, the event has grown into one of country Australia’s largest agricultural and agribusiness trade shows.”

More than $200 million in machinery, equipment and materials find a home at the Field Days site each year, with the event believed to inject in excess of $3 million directly into the broader Wimmera economy.

Among the event’s features are exhibitor awards, highland cows (with a ‘guess the bull’s weight’ competition), a fashion parade, freestyle motocross, live kids shows, helicopter rides, a farm sculpture competition and wildlife.
