Event organisers write:

Due to increased public concern, to protect the health of stakeholders and visitors, and in response to the Prime Minister and COAG’s direction that any organised mass gathering over 500 people should be cancelled, the 2020 Sydney Royal Easter Show is cancelled.

“Cancelling the Show will cost the Royal Agricultural Society tens of millions of dollars, and as a not-for-profit association, we will be working with the NSW Government to soften the financial hit to the RAS and to our stakeholders,” RAS chief executive officer Brock Gilmour says.

“The RAS survived the 1919 Spanish Flu pandemic, the Great Depression, World War Two, and we will survive coronavirus and the Show will be as big, bold and exciting as ever in 2021,” Mr Gilmour said.

“It’s with a very heavy heart that the East Gippsland Field Days Committee has had to cancel the 2020 event due to Government restrictions surrounding COVID-19.

“We understand this decision will bring much angst and despair to many of our exhibitors who rely on field days, markets and fairs to trade. It has not been an easy decision, but at the end of the day it has been taken out of our hands.

“Please take care and we hope to see you all in 2021 or possibly sooner as we may look at running a separate event in November. We shall keep you all posted on this. Our 2021 dates will be April 16 and 17.”

Northern Australia Food Futures Conference POSTPONED

Riverina Field Days, Griffith DECISION PENDING

In a statement on the event website, organisers say:

“Following the announcement by the Australian Government to restrict gatherings of 500 people or more, we will continue to respond to COVID-19 global pandemic and will take all advice given and follow any laws in the best interest of public health and safety.

“As the situation is moving so quickly and circumstances continue to change, we will be speaking to all our key stakeholders this coming week to review our options around a possible postponement.

“Health and Safety will always be first priority, however we don’t want to rush into any decisions straight away as the situation is constantly evolving and the Riverina Field Days is 2 months away. The uncertainty surrounding the time frame of the gathering restrictions is what is making the decision very difficult to navigate.

“Please allow us these coming weeks to make an informed decision.”

Norco Primex, Casino RESCHEDULED to August 6-8

In a statement, Primex director Bruce Wright says the change in date of this year’s event follows the introduction of the Public Health (COVID-19 Public Events) Order 2020 by the NSW Government which prohibits the running of events of 500 people or more – until after June 14, 2020.

“As these circumstances have been evolving, Primex has been in contact with the Association of Agricultural Field Days of Australia, the Richmond Valley Council and a number of exhibitors over the past 10 days to further monitor and consider the best options,” he says.

“Exhibitors who have been contacted as part of this consultation process have been very supportive of the decision to change the date.”
