New John Deere Large Square Baler delivers

[ADVERTISEMENT] The new John Deere L300 Series large square balers are designed to produce dense, well-shaped bales even in the most difficult conditions. These units are available now with John Deere's 1.99% p.a. finance offer* on all hay equipment for a limited time only.

Fraser Hewitt is a member of a family business that has been working the land outside of Theodore in Queensland for over a hundred years. As a major hay contractor, they produce upwards of 6,000 bales a year.

Three months ago they were one of the first customers to purchase John Deere’s new L300 large square baler.

“We only just found out that John Deere was making a hay baler at the start of the year and we thought with the back-up we’ve received with all our tractors, machinery and parts…we couldn’t go past the John Deere (large square baler),” Hewitt says.

These high-capacity balers feature a heavy-duty drivetrain with a 45 stroke-per-minute gear box to transfer power to other components.

Bottom line, these new balers redefine large square baler performance with added capacity and durability built into every machine.

A new on-board hydraulic density control allows the in-cab monitor to control hydraulic pressure on the cylinders against the bale case.

Even when the moisture content changes, the pre-set density for the bales do not, regardless of changing field conditions.

“Australia’s probably one of the most difficult countries to farm in – being so dry and remote,” Hewitt says.

“Over the years we’ve changed our way of doing things to be the most productive.”

The L300 series large square balers feature dependable double-tie knotters with an integrated lubrication system.

Hydraulically-operated knotter cleaning fans keep trash and debris out of the knotter system. This helps improve overall knotter performance with very few misses throughout an entire harvest season.

John Deere says the knotters are especially suited to the often tough Australian conditions.

Electronic knotter flags also come standard on all balers to allow for easier harvesting and location of bales in the field.

“You don’t want it to be breaking down every 10 minutes … because it is a harsh environment out there it has to be hardy and tough,” Hewitt says.

Another great feature is the last bale ejection system that allows an operator who needs to clean out the last bale for each job, to wrap and eject the final bale regardless of size.

The L300 series has also been designed with new technology in mind.

ISOBUS electronics allow the new balers to work with JDLink™ software and are compatible with GreenStar™ displays.  These precision technologies allow farmers to gather information about their operations and help increase productivity and profitability.

While John Deere’s hallmark has always been innovation, customer care is also as important and has been a feature of the company since day one.

“We’ve had a very good run with John Deere. [They have] great customer support, great parts and great service,” Hewitt says.

“I can’t think of any product John Deere’s released that’s been a failure.

“That’s a very big contributing factor as to why we chose the John Deere baler and we thought, yeah, we couldn’t go past this one really.”

For a limited time, John Deere is offering 1.99% p.a. finance* across its entire hay equipment range including the new L300 series large square balers.
