Property of the Week: Elevated grazing over Highland Valley, SA

A 31-hectare cattle property south-east of Adelaide is on the market, with gorgeous, sweeping views towards Lake Alexandrina.

Though the property doesn’t currently feature a homestead, agency Pope Nitschke First National says there are several ideal locations which provide a blank canvas near mains power and roads for any prospective buyer.

The agency describes the property as “magnificent” and says anyone in the area must inspect it if they are considering a rural property.

“The land has a sweeping south-easterly aspect, with beautiful elevated views over the hinterland and Lake Alexandrina to the Coorong sandhills.

“A predominance of scattered Pink Gums on the high country and Red Gums in the valley, make this property a very attractive lifestyle offering.”

Despite not yet having a house built on it, the property has been improved with two large stock dams – which are fed by a large catchment area – as well as a bore which was re-cased in 2015 with a new pump and motor installed by a local specialist.

It also features a double lock-up Colorbond concrete floor shed next to a concrete rainwater tank, which supplies water to the orchard for irrigation.

There is also a second tank of about 13,500 litres for feeding the cattle trough and cattle yards adjacent to the roadway.

The agency says there are established berry and fruit plantations on the property, too.

“The valley at the bottom of the property is like an excerpt from the popular TV series ‘The Good Life’ with an extensive vegetable and berry garden established in the fertile silt residue.

“In addition there are established plum, nectarine, fig, peach, and apricot trees in a protective wire enclosure.

“This magnificent property, in an enviable location, is ideal as a farm build-up, hobby farm with cattle, sheep or horses, or as a ‘tree-change’ lifestyle place to live.”
