Video: Topping tulips in Holland

Who'd have thought a huge tractor and a field of flowers could make for such a spectacle?

We’re still not 100 per cent sure why this is a thing, but we don’t really mind. It just looks cool.

The description for this video says that cutting the tops off the flowers helps the plant put all of its energy into the bulb, so that small bulbs can be planted back in the field and the large ones are sold to greenhouse growers.

It does seem odd to cut up all the tulips that have already been grown, though it doesn’t seem like there’s any kind of shortage there…
