Today Forest Centre’s customer base ranges from large scale timber harvesting and haulage contractors to OEM dealers, civil contractors, vegetation management and firewood businesses, tree care professionals and even rural landowners.

The core operational needs haven’t changed much over time in each of these different spaces, but the technology and range of attachments available for different timber-handling tasks certainly has.

“It’s quite clear that equipment owners and operators are seeking ways to work smarter and safer,” explains Forest Centre sales manager Rey Kell.

“We’ve had some great feedback from users of our most recent product lines Vosch grapple saws and TMK Tree Shears,” Kell added, referring to an all-European brand stable that now includes rotating grapples and tree shears for compact two- and three-tonne carriers upwards, to grapple saws well matched to eight- and 10-tonne plus machines.

When it comes to operations that can be dangerous and time consuming for regular crews, purpose-built attachments can open up a whole new level of productivity.

Ashley Grieve from All Tree Works in Queensland sums up their new Vosch 30-tonne class 2200-7T grapple saw as “a real game changer for us – bloody good” having only recently being put to work in raking, sorting and cross-cutting hardwood material to be ground on site.

With the aid of an excavator equipped with a grapple saw or shear, one operator can safely grasp and cut a tree section, then stack, feed a chipper or load directly into a waiting truck.
