One of Dalby’s oldest manufacturing and bulk handling companies, Walsh & Ford, is celebrating 70 years of business success this year.

Established in 1949 by Eric Walsh and Percy Ford, the company has grown from a steel fabrication business catering to the needs of local farmers to a bulk handling specialist with a dedicated corporate clientele.

Today, Eric’s son Peter Walsh runs the company and continues to operate by the tradition that started with the marketing catchphrase ‘We make anything’.

“We’ve been successful in diversifying production and have managed to keep abreast of changes by remaining flexible and moving with the market,” he says.

“We’re still producing a range of specialised steel requirements on and off site and this now encompasses an even wider range of industries.”

The company specialises in made-to-measure steel fabrication works, taking on abstract concepts and engineering them to suit a specific purpose – from grain handling to planting equipment, chaser bins, tanks, container inverters, cotton gin, feed lots and more.

The company not only takes pride in its quality of work but also in its valued and highly skilled workforce.

“Our tradesmen are well trained and can create almost any product from start to finish. Walsh & Ford maintains a reputation for innovation, affordability and quality,” Peter says.

He believes it is people and their dedication to the business that has produced enduring business partnerships and trusted associations.

Its list of clients includes industry leaders such as Queensland Cotton, Allied Mills, Riverina Stock Feeds, Ridley Corp, Louie Dreyfus Commodities, Bridgeport Energy, Maralong Milling, PB AgriFood, Hi Feed, AACO, and Performance Feeds.

The company also aims to maintain solid relationships with its core suppliers such as BOC, Applied Industrial, CBC, Forbo, Techtop, Queensland Steel & Sheet, Total Steel, Atlas Steels, Voestalpine, and Jacks Hydraulics.

Today, Walsh & Ford offers its services Australia-wide while continuing to service rural, construction and energy sectors within the Dalby region.
