With diesel prices lower than they’ve been for at least the last decade, many farmers are looking to stock up for the winter months – and a new storage solution might be able to help.

Australian tank manufacturer Polymaster’s new Essential Bulk Diesel Storage tank was designed for farmers, owner drivers and small fleet operators.

Polymaster marketing manager Yvette Fitzpatrick says buying diesel in bulk can save up to 25c per litre, when compared to bowser prices.

“We typically say that means buying a new tank pays for itself in less than six full fills – but at the moment you could probably pay it off much quicker,” she says.

The Essential tank comes with a new 70L/min Piusi diesel pump, a quick connecting camlock for tankers, an auto shut off trigger nozzle and a 6m hose for dispensing. These features mean farmers can do away with overhead gravity-fed tanks.

The double-walled, self-bunded storage tank can hold up to 10,000 litres of diesel and comes with a digital level indicator, to let the user track volume at all times.

As it comes self-bunded and ready-to-go, the tank does not require any additional earth or concrete bunding. The outer tank is made from a flame retardant polyethylene.

The unique and practical design gives the tank an empty weight of under 800kg, making it easy to move around the farm when needed.

Its polyethylene construction material has a 20+ year tank design life, coming UV protected and designed without welds or other rust points.

All models in the Polymaster range meet Australian standards AS/NZ 4766:2006 – the polyethylene tank standard for water and chemicals.

The tank comes with anti-splash filling and tank venting systems, as well as the ability to dissipate state electricity, the company adds.
