BYPY Transmissions: Ready to go

BYPY Transmissions is ready for the coming harvest season, with plenty of PTO drive shafts and gearboxes in stock.

With a plethora of gearbox and PTO shaft options in stock, agricultural equipment distributors BYPY Transmissions is well stocked and capable of servicing from Kununurra to Hobart and everywhere in between this harvest season.

BYPY specialises in power take-off (PTO) drive shafts and gearboxes, where it is the sole licensed importer and distributor of Italian power transmission manufacturer Bondioli & Pavesi.

Imported straight from the Mediterranean all year round, Bondioli & Pavesi systems are found on the implements of most major agricultural manufacturers including Case IH, New Holland and Kuhn, meaning BYPY can service an array of customers.

While most of BYPY’s sales are performed out of its base in Dandenong, Victoria, the company also has many stockists located around the country as well as hundreds of agricultural dealers who are regular suppliers of the products; some of which also stock a select number of BYPY’s most common items.

BYPY spokesperson Ashley Male says the company is both well stocked and seeing a constant replenishment of equipment and parts at all times of the year.

“We’re not relying upon waiting six months for a stock order, we have constant stock on the move all year,” says Male.

“From when the order is placed to shipping is usually same day or next day. Replacement parts for breakdowns, which are mostly replacement parts for repair, generally take overnight to two days, depending on where you are located in Australia.

“That is of course dependant on freight conditions at the time, which is not as reliable as it used to be.”

Despite having to import equipment from Europe, business for BYPY was steady across the pandemic thanks to a dash of forward thinking and, in hindsight, a lot of luck.

Very early in the pandemic, BYPY doubled its stock holdings prior to the mass production delays endured by most European manufacturers.

“We doubled our stock holdings of what we had on stock and on order very early in COVID-19,” says Male.

“We upped our orders early and we had a lot of stock come in early before all these major European production delays and shipping delays. We are actually quite well stocked.”

Male adds that the quality and performance of the Bondioli & Pavesi-branded systems yielded far better performances and quality than other brand manufacturers in other corners of the globe.

“Italians have a reputation for engineering prowess. Their manufacturing and their engineering has always been very highly regarded around the world, in my opinion, and from what I’m hearing in the industry,” says Male.

“There is a high level of quality, and attention to detail is excellent – the Italians pride themselves on doing things nicely.”
