Colac Ag expands hay and silage range

A new, larger bale wrapper and a redesigned silage trailer are among the new models to be joining Colac Ag’s range of machinery now available Down Under from brands such as Elho, Joskin, Samasz and Schuitemaker

Colac Ag’s range of imported hay and silage machinery has continued to expand, and this season’s additions further enhance the offering available.

The company’s philosophy is to align itself with specialist European manufacturers and import the products that best suit Australian conditions.

Elho

Elho has long been known in Australia for its bale wrappers, and new to Colac Ag’s range is the Sideliner 1790PRO wrapper.

This machine is the largest model in Elho’s range of wrappers and is built in Finland.

New to Elho’s bale wrapper range is the Sideliner 1790PRO

Heavy duty in every way, Colac Ag tested some under Australian conditions during the 2021 season and they passed the test.

This machine can easily wrap bales up to 1.8m in diameter and weighing up to 1,600kg. It has dual arms with pre-stretchers for the plastic film.

Also in the wrapper range, Elho offers the 1540M and 1540PRO.

In recent years Elho has also become known for raking hay and silage crops with the V-Twin 950 rake. This can collect a lot of crop with working widths from 4.5 to 9.5m.

The machine also has hydraulic flotation to ensure the raking units follow the ground contours.

Material is brought into the swath and can be adjusted to have the swath up to 1.8m either side of the tractor’s centre.

Rounding out the range of Elho hay rakes is the smaller V-Twin 750, V-Twin 600 front mount and the Twin 4600 front mount rake, which can be used to turn windrows.

These rakes are gentle on the crop and limit the amount of foreign material in the windrow because of their raking action.

Elho also produces rock pickers, which Colac Ag says are working well in the Australian market.

The Joskin Silo-Space2 ranges from 44–54 cubic metres

Joskin

This year, Colac Ag is also introducing the Joskin Silo-Space2 silage trailer.

This machine has a new body, which has been designed based on the strongest features of its predecessor.

The combination of a lowered galvanised chassis with a monocoque body allowed Joskin to increase the body height to 2.28m inside and to reduce the empty weight of the trailer, resulting in a higher payload and longer lifespan.

The front wall is painted and perforated – anti-reflective to the tractor’s working lights – and has been designed to load a maximum amount of silage, while offering the user a clear view on the inside of the body.

To ensure long-term sturdiness and power when unloading, the moving floor of the Silo-Space2 standard includes two moving parts with chains driven by two hydraulic motors with side gearboxes.

Profiled slats are alternately placed to ensure an even load distribution.

Body volume on these machines ranges between 44 and 54 cubic metres.

The Samasz heavy duty mower comes in a variety of formations

Samasz

Polish-made Samasz is another brand under the Colac Ag umbrella.

Now established in the Australian market, Samasz’s heavy-duty mowers come in many different formations including a triple set, which mows up to 9.4m in one sweep.

Options for these mowers include roller or flail conditioners and transporter conveyors to bring the grass into one windrow.

The biggest rotary rake has a working width of 8.4m, complemented by the 8.9m three-point linkage tedder.

Schuitemaker

Rounding out Colac Ag’s hay and silage range is Dutch-made Schuitemaker, whose wagons continue to meet the needs of Australian conditions.

The Feedo wagons for feeding out silage have a maximum capacity of 37 cubic metres; however the most popular size is 18 cubic metres.

A full steel box makes the construction of these machines durable for the long haul.

Schuitemaker Rapide loader wagons are available in a range of sizes

Another standard feature on the Schuitemaker Feedo range is mixing beaters at the front, which helps to ensure a smoother flow of products delivered to the cattle.

Schuitemaker also makes loader wagons in its Rapide range.

These are available with various sizes and beaters to get silage from paddock to cattle in the best standard possible.
