FutureAg will not be held this year, with organisers citing the global fuel crisis and fertiliser shortages for the postponement
Melbourne’s FutureAg event will not have a third staging this year after organisers announced a postponement until July 2027.
The ongoing global fuel crisis, along with the impact of fertiliser shortages on Australian farmers, have been cited as reasons for the postponement – which organisers say comes after extensive consultation with farmers and exhibitors.
“Many farmers are currently facing sharply increased operational costs, higher uncertainty and greater day-to-day pressures, making it difficult for them to commit the time and resources required to attend an exhibition in 2026,” organisers say.
FutureAg, which is powered by leading German event Agritechnica, was first held at Melbourne Showgrounds in 2024 to showcase machinery and technology with a focus on the future.
It was held again last year at the same venue, with organisers saying the next edition is still planned for July 2027.
Co-organisers Hannover Fairs Australia and DLG (German Agricultural Society) will jointly donate $5,000 to Rural Aid.
