Green Climber available for order

Remote controlled mower able to climb dangerous slopes for work

Six months after we got a sneak peek at AgFest 2018, the remote-controlled Green Climber LV 300 Pro mower is available to buy in Australia.

The mower can be driven by an operator situated up to 100m away using a Bluetooth connection, while all movements are controlled by a single joystick; allowing the operator to always have a free hand to use for other machine commands.

Designed to remove the danger from mowing steep slopes and inclines, its tracks enable the Green Climber to operate in all directions on slopes with an incline of up to 60 per cent.

Check out what Farms & Farm Machinery had to say about the Green Climber when we first saw it in May.

Distributor SME Mowers says its advantage over other slope mowers is the fact that its tracks can be widened on each side in order to increase traction.

“In extreme situations if the regular width of the tracks is not enough to avoid capsizing risk, you can increase the track width – by remote control – by 400mm each side, to gain that extra stability and balance,” SME says.

“The remote control system operates the start/stop of the engine, engine revs, forward and reverse, steering, and all the hydraulic functions on the machine and the attachment.

“Furthermore, it has a self-correcting steering system, that, in the event of very steep slopes it can be used to correct the direction,” SME says.

Manufactured in Italy by MDB, the Green Climber boasts a three-cylinder, 30 horsepower (22.3kW) Yanmar diesel engine, enabling it to handle anything from thick grass to blackberry bushes, as well as bracken and regrowth.

The Green Climber LV 500, with a 49.5 horsepower (37kW) Yanmar engine, and the LV 600, with a 56 horsepower (42kW) LV600 engine, are also available.

Flail blades capable of handling growth up to 50mm in diameter are standard, while the flail head pivots and floats independently to the machine’s chassis, allowing the cutter to follow ground surface. The model boasts a flail width of 1200mm.

The mower also features a double step air filtering system which SME says assures good ‘engine breathing’, and a Clean-Fix fan that automatically reverses to blow out debris collected during operation, designed to ensure the radiator is kept clean.
