Grundfos add new solar-powered water pump to its range

Grundfos says its new SQFlex solar-powered submersible pumps are perfect for stock watering, irrigation and agricultural water supplies

Pumping specialist Grundfos has added a new model to its range of SQFlex solar powered submersible pumps; catering to farmers who require a reliable off-grid agricultural water supply.

Grundfos says the new model, the SQFlex Large, is easy to install, has low operating costs and low maintenance requirements, being crafted with stainless steel and zinc anodes at the base mount.

The SQFlex Large includes a built-in frequency converter which ensures the motor is compatible with power from any source; whether it be AC power, solar DC or generator power sources.

The pump also comes with intellient dry-run sensor protection, meaning the motor will be protected and stop running if the bore runs dry – and will restart automatically when safe.

Internal motor controls adjust the pump speed according to solar DC power input while built-in electronics offer improved pump orientation.

A mobile app designed by Grundfos will also be available to potential customers wishing to size the solar-powered water systems offline as well as providing a built-in water calculator which determined the average water required for homes, crops and/or livestock based on geolocation.

The new model takes the Grundfos range to five high sped models – three large, one medium and one small capacity – as the company moves to meet growing  demand for solar-powered pumps capable of performing in Australia’s demanding agricultural conditions.

While offering lower energy consumption and fewer carbon emissions than traditional grid-based or diesel-powered pumping systems, the SQFlex Large also gives  farmers a sound alternative for water irrigation, Grundfos country director for Australia Rick Holland says.

“The SQFlex Large range extension demonstrates our continued priority to develop products that meet the needs and expectations of our customers while straying true to our commitment to offering sustainable solutions,” he says.

“The new range allows our customers to expand their solar application capabilities with a simple and reliable complete pumping solution that is easy to install with very little maintenance needed.”
