Farming professionals decide on Lamborghini Trattori tractors for their advanced technology and elegant and exclusive design and styling.
The history of Lamborghini tractors begins with the birth of Ferruccio Lamborghini, the son of viticulturists from Northern Italy. After serving as a mechanic during World War II, Lamborghini began building tractors from leftover military hardware, and by the mid-1950’s Lamborghini’s tractor company had become one of the principal agricultural equipment manufacturers in Italy.
The success of Lamborghini Trattori allowed Ferruccio Lamborghini to foster his growing interest in luxury cars. When the clutch on Lamborghini’s Ferrari broke, and he discovered it was the same clutch that he used on his tractors, he asked Ferrari for a superior replacement. Ferrari came back saying Lamborghini was simply a little tractor maker and knew nothing about sports cars. Lamborghini decided then to branch out from tractor making to car manufacturing with a goal to create the perfect grand tourer.
During the 1970’s Lamborghini’s tractor company began to experience financial difficulties. With half of its tractors being exported, Lamborghini Trattori was hit hard by the cancellation of two large orders. The tractor company’s unionised employees could not be laid off, and Ferrucio Lamborghini was forced to sell his entire holding in Lamborghini Trattori to competing tractor builder SAME.
The Lamborghini tractor of today continues to deliver superb workmanship and quality and is a testament to one man’s passion for technological excellence.
