PFG Australia unveils $16M Derrimut facility

Leading farm machinery importer and distributor’s new location a one-stop shop for dealers and customers.

The facility, which acts as the company’s headquarters in Australia, was officially unveiled on April 16 where staffs, stakeholders and media were invited to a factory tour and refreshments afterwards. The purpose-built Melbourne base includes warehouse and distribution, sales/marketing and administration, parts and services depot, conference and training rooms including practical training areas, indoor and outdoor staff leisure areas and an urban style café. All up, the site took up 11 acres of land with three acres under cover.

PFG Managing Director Craig Maber says the facility had been designed from the ground up to enhance the efficiency of the company’s operations. “With the growth in market share during the past ten years, we need much more space and it was time to upgrade,” he says. “Our new headquarters has been designed with people and productivity in mind. We’ll be able to welcome manufacturers, dealers and customers to the hub of our operations to showcase the products and provide hands-on experience.”

PFG Australia’s National Parts Manager Rowan Batchelor says combining all departments is a great move by the company. “It will be easier to work as one team,” he says. “Moving the parts depot is a major job with around 300,000 parts to organise but there’s so much more room to arrange everything and work efficiently.” “We’ve also got lots of new toys and technology to help get the parts in and out much faster.”

The company’s new address is 199 Australis Drive, Derrimut Victoria. PFG Australia is a wholly owned subsidiary of Power Farming Holdings Limited, a fully independent and privately owned New Zealand based company established by the Maber family. Power Farming is currently run by Geoff Maber and sons Craig and Brett, who are the second and third generation of the family since Laurie Maber who founded the business in 1948.

The company carries a range of recognised brands in the agriculture industry including Deutz-Fahr, Kioti Daedong, Yanmar, Same and Versatile.
