The Colac dealership sells a wide-range of Lely products and had been rewarded for being the top performing dealer for Lely Australia nation-wide, based on last year’s sales results.

It was looking to be a disastrous year for Greg Allan Farm Machinery when Allan suffered a life-threatening heart attack early in 2015, resulting in him being away from the business for about four months.

His team put in a stellar effort in his absence, doing him proud by earning the accolade as he gradually recovered.

“The team lifted and took control of the business,” company owner Greg Allan says. “We were thrown into turmoil, but everybody had their designated job to do.

“The Lely products that we sold were mainly their Welger round balers; we have about 80 percent market share in our region, particularly among contractors.

“We’ve been a Lely dealer for around twenty years and it’s not always a bed of roses, but that’s what business is about.”

Lely Australia is a good company to get on with, Allan says.

“You get the access to talk with the top management, and if it is a difficult deal that you’re after, everybody knows where they stand. They are a small enough company to treat you as an individual.”

Lely Australia Forage Dealer Conference saw the release of the new Tulip Biga vertical mixer range, built with the latest innovative mixing technology that includes two unique double-action augers, heavy duty construction and reduced power consumption.

The new Lely Welger RP 160 V variable-chamber round baler models were also revealed at the conference.
