Melbourne’s Agpower & Transport has won the Best Farm Machinery Award from the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC).

Based in Lilydale, the operation edged out a number of other businesses in the farm machinery industry to claim the award at the VACC Awards event, which was held at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne last week.

"Agpower & Transport is recognised for its distinguished organisation, backed with proven business processes," VACC executive director Geoff Gwilym says.

"With 30 employees, Agpower & Transport has a commitment to exceptional OHS practices and staff development.

"High standards are important in our industry and VACC congratulates Agpower & Transport for winning this major award.

"VACC initiated the Industry Awards to recognise and promote those businesses that set the bar high and go above and beyond and Agpower & Transport certainly does that."

Other VACC Awards include achievement in mechanical and body repairs, car, motorcycle, tyre retailing, auto recycling, towing, and retail business operations.

More than 200 applications were received for the accolades, with just 21 awards up for grabs.

All nominees were assessed by a panel of expert judges, whose decisions were audited by a Standards Australia representative on customer service, training, occupational health and safety, and environmental compliance.

"In the face of strong competition customers can be assured that any business winning a VACC Industry Award this year is a quality business," Gwilym says.

"Clearly Agpower & Transport is in that category."

Established in 2000 in Victoria’s Yarra Valley, Agpower & Transport has grown into one of the largest independent agricultural machinery specialist dealerships in the state, supplying and servicing a wide range of mowers, sprayers and other farm equipment.

Brands the company sells include Toro, Grillo and Trimax, Berti, Lely, Duncan-Ag, Nobili, Giltrap, Clemens, Maschio and Whitco.
