Attachable to the back of a 25hp to 60hp tractor, the SGM Finishing Mower has been a popular product since arriving at Melbourne-based Farm Implements.

“It handles a wide variety of mowing tasks where people want a fine finished lawn that looks the part but don’t want to spend too much time mowing,” Farm Implements’ general manager Tim Alcott said.

“It has been popular with schools and even regional golf courses where they can’t necessarily afford an expensive mower.”

The three suction-type blades turn at a high tip speed to give a sharp cut to tender grass, while the four solid swivel wheels allow the mower to follow the ground’s contour, which is ideal for undulating conditions.

Spacers can be added to the caster wheel shafts to adjust the cutting height.

Alcott said the SGM Finishing Mower, which has three different sizes and starts from a recommended retail price of $3250, was popular due to the fact it performed well above its price point.

“With finishing mowers, you have either got one that is 100 per cent made in Europe or you have the cheap copies – until the SGM there hasn’t really been anything that sat in the middle,” he said.

“We’re finding with the Cosmo Bully product that it looks, acts and responds like a European model but is priced halfway between the really expensive European models and cheaper imported Asian models.”
