With an 8.4 litre six-cylinder engine which now meets Euro 4 and US 4 standards, JCB is calling the 8330 the most productive Fastrac ever.

Helped by a twin-turbo system, the 8330 has a rated speed output of 335hp (250kW) which is kicked up to 348hp (260kW) under full load.

Helping the tractor along is 1440Nm of torque at 1500rpm, which JCB Construction Equipment Australia (CEA) national product manager Dave Moselen says helps the 8330 keep traction in difficult conditions.

He also says the JCB ‘Activ Traction’ works with a Continuously Variable Transmission to intelligently alter output and maintain efficient operations.

“The JCB ‘Activ Traction’ draws information from a radar speed sensor, hydraulics position control and cruise control to manipulate engine torque and maintain traction for the most cost-efficient performance, making the most of Fastrac’s unique balanced weight distribution,” Moselen says.

As well as a traction upgrade, JCB says the 8330 gets a steering update, replacing the mechanical power-assisted steering with a hydrostatic dual steering system which monitors pressure and flow.

“The new system meets the crucial failsafe requirements for a tractor capable of 70km/h top speed in the event of hydraulic or engine failure,” Moselen says.

“On top of that, it introduces the new feature of selectable Rapid Steer, which halves the number of turns lock-to-lock from four to just two.”

In the cab, drivers will find a seat that turns 50 degrees to the right and 20 to the left to make keeping an eye on rear-mounted equipment or a trailer.

The JCB Fastrac 8330 will be available in Australia this year.
