The colossus of hay rakes has arrived, as Kverneland’ s local distributor PFG Australia sets out to meet demand for bigger products

Kverneland’ s new butterfly mower and four rotor rake will help to meet growing demand for bigger machines, local distributor PFG Australia says.
Sales manager Brendan Lee says the 5095M Butterfly mower and the new 95130C Pro Four Rotor Rake bring increased productivity that farmers and contractors are looking for.
“In a lot of cases bigger is not always better, but in our case at the moment we are finding that it kind of is,” he says.
“Traditionally farmers haven’t looked at running front linkage on their tractor, but now they are buying that as standard. Every tractor with front linkage opens up the option of mounting mowers and mower conditioners to them, increasing productivity.
“Farmers and contractors aren’t just shooting from the hip anymore, they do a lot of research and plan their purchases based on productivity and efficiency,” Lee says.
Saying that Kverneland has been at the forefront of front mounted mower development for many years, Lee adds that this year’s change in seasons has created more pressure to get the job done.
The 5095M was one of these larger additions to the range, he says, linking up with the 2832F front mower to help take total cutting width to 9.5m.
Designed to meet large-scale mowing needs, the 5095M runs 18 discs and weighs 1,500kg, but can run on a 150 horsepower (110kW) tractor.
It has centre suspension and centre suspended mowing units, as well as a fully welded cutter bar with round discs and a non-stop Break Back.
The strong performance of the 5095M mowers led to demand for rakes wider than their 9m model, Lee says.
As a result, PFG decided to introduce the 95130C Pro four rotor rake, which he says is the highest spec model Kverneland offers.
With a 12.5m working width, the 95130C is hydraulically adjustable and comes with ISOBUS control as well as separate front and rear rotor lift, with each able to be lifted individually – folding and unfolding at the touch of a button.
Working widths can be controlled from within the terminal, while it also comes with the option of saving the swath width and different headland delay functions.
A demonstration model is currently available from Goulburn valley Ag in Shepparton and will make its way across Victoria from there, while new models of the 5095M will be available from mid-August.
