Mahindra’s Agritechnica small farm focus

The Indian manufacturer is planning a showcase of its precision technologies at Agritechnica

Mahindra will showcase two advances in precision agriculture at this year’s Agritechnicha, to be held in Hannover, Germany, from November 10 to 16.

The company says it has placed “significant emphasis” on making precision agriculture products both accessible and affordable for small farmers.

Mahindra says it will be showcasing digital platforms and smart machines used for soil mapping and variable rate fertiliser application – capturing soil data using implement mounted sensors and then dispensing fertilisers as and where required.

It will also be exhibiting cameras and other devices used for crop disease detection – and subsequent targeted spraying.

“Mahindra aims to be a partner of the small landholding farmers, across their full crop cycle, bringing them technologies that are otherwise deployed on larger farms to make a difference to the way farming is done,” the company says.

“[It] has also made significant strides in its journey towards developing digital farming solutions with investments in global precision farming and digital start-ups in Canada, Switzerland and India.”

“This has enabled the company to secure market access and on ground presence in many of the world’s leading agricultural markets as well as to leapfrog the technology curve,” the company says.

Mahindra will also introduce products from its global portfolio at the event, including products from the Mitsubishi, Armatrac, Sampo Rosenlew and Hisarlar at the event.

Among the models to be displayed are Mahindra tractors the 6075 and 2025 – known locally as the Jivo, as well as the Armatrac 804 Fruit Garden tractor, the Elf 20 and MMR 600 power tillers and the Hisarlar Akavira 300 field type rotary tiller.

“All these innovations are designed to help farmers evolve to greater levels of efficiencies in farming and mechanisation, thereby increasing their productivity and enhancing their prosperity,” Mahindra says.
