Head injuries account for a large proportion of accidents in industrial workplaces, highlighting the importance of protective headgear
The vast range of products from 3M are designed to improve safety on the job and reduce the chance of head injuries.
Head injuries can often occur when a worker falls from scaffolding, ladders, roofs and chimneys.
Another cause is materials falling from heights such as cranes, which can be fatal to workers in the vicinity.
Workers can even bump their heads into pipes, beams, and other hard objects inflicting damage.
Furthermore, when a worker is injured, they are not able to work which can impact them financially as well as their business.
Protective headgear can make a huge difference by mitigating the risks of these aforementioned hazards, but also protect against electrical hazards, rain, heat, UV and chemical splashes.
In Australia and New Zealand, the standard AS/NZS 1801:1997 specifies the requirements when it comes to protective headgear in the workplace. They outline three different types of protective headgear.
3M has several head protection solutions, and the right choice will depend on the purpose.
Examples of head protection include bump caps (for bumping the head on stationary objects), hard hats (for impacts and falling) and safety helmets (protection from small falling objects in particular).
