Since its local launch last year, Massey Ferguson’s 5M tractor has been proving its worth in Australia as an established all-rounder
Since hitting the Australian market in mid-2025, the Massey Ferguson MF 5M Series has quickly established itself as a cornerstone for mixed farming and dairy operations.
Designed to replace the 5700 and 6700 Global series, this six-model range, spanning 95hp to 145hp, is proving that “affordable efficiency” doesn’t have to mean sacrificing modern capability.
The MF 5M series is built on a modular philosophy, offering a high degree of choice between open-platform and cab builds meaning there is a configuration for every paddock.
For those working in tighter spaces or more temperate climates, the MF 5M.95 through to the MF 5M.125 are available in both platform and cab configurations.
As the power climbs, the range shifts focus toward operator environment, with the 135hp and 145hp flagship models being exclusively available as cab-only units to ensure maximum comfort for the high-hour tasks they are built to handle.
Power and choice
Transmission selection is another area where the MF 5M offers versatility to match the buyer’s budget.
The entry-level MF 5M.95 and all open platform (ROPS) variants come standard with a robust 12×12 Synchro Shuttle gearbox, prioritising mechanical simplicity.
Moving up the range, the 105hp, 115hp, 125hp, and 135hp cab models offer a choice between that 12×12 Synchro or the highly regarded 16×16 Dyna-4 semi-powershift.
For the top-tier MF 5M.145, the Dyna-4 comes as standard, providing seamless clutchless shifting that is ideal for transport and intensive loader work.

Tailored tech
The brilliance of the MF 5M lies in its ‘jack of all trades’ technology approach, meaning farmers can effectively build the tractor to the level of sophistication they actually need.
For those after a basic, reliable workhorse, the Essential specification offers a mechanical focus without the digital overhead.
Many buyers opt for the “Auto-Guide Ready” configuration, which includes the factory-fitted internal architecture and wiring needed to add GPS steering later, providing an easy entry point for precision farming and adding to the resale value.
For the high-tech operator, the MF 5M can come fully loaded with the Fieldstar 5 touchscreen terminal.
This unlocks the ability to update to a complete Smart Farming suite, including MF Guide for hands-free steering, Section Control for up to 96 sections, and full ISOBUS connectivity.
By offering a clear path from a basic mechanical platform to a fully integrated precision machine, Massey Ferguson has ensured the MF 5M fits as comfortably in a small-scale vegetable patch as it does in a professional dairy yard.
With a 5,200kg rear lift capacity on the larger models and the standard ‘brake-to-neutral’ feature across the range, it remains the ultimate multi-tool for the modern Australian farm.
