Massey Ferguson has introduced a new choice in the multi-purpose mid-size tractor market with the release of the new MF4600 series utility tractors.
Aimed at the vineyard, orchard and market garden industry as a primary workhorse, the MF4600 utility tractor would make a terrific little secondary tractor on larger farming operations.
Consumers have the choice of three models ranging in size from 80-100hp. Powered by a 3.3-litre, 3-cylinder Agco Power engine, four valves per cylinder provide improved air flow and increase fuel efficiency.
SisuTronic EEM4 – Agco Power’s most recent electronic engine management system – continually monitors engine operation to guarantee optimum performance under all working conditions.
Standard features on all tractors in the 4600 series include a 12X12 power shuttle transmission providing smooth and effortless clutch-free transition between forward and reverse.
An open-centre hydraulic system delivers 65 litres/minute of oil flow to the linkage, implements and optional front-end loader. The electronically-controlled three-point linkage gives the 4600 series tractors a hefty 2,500 kg of rear-end lift, which can be increased to 3,300kg by upgrading to the optional high-lift kit.
Every model comes standard with an electro-hydraulically engaged PTO with wet multi-disc clutch, two PTO speeds, 540/540E and a 13/8 inch 6-spline shaft.
A flat deck foot platform, adjustable steering wheel and suspended seat with folding armrests offer a safe and comfortable working environment on both the cabin and ROPS version on the MF 4600.
NewFarmMachinery recently gained access to a MF4609, 90hp, ROPS model utility tractor for a day of testing to put it through its paces and appraise its performance.
