New Case tractor a blockbuster for orchards

The new Case IH Farmall C 115hp Orchard Cab has already earned the nickname 'Mad Max' for its durability.

A nickname like the ‘Mad Max tractor’ will always make a model stand out.

In this instance, the moniker applies to the Case IH Farmall C 115hp Orchard Cab, which is now available to customers in Australia and New Zealand following a series of demonstration and field days last year.

Designed for orchards and nut plantations, the tractor aims to make tasks such as mowing, harvesting, spraying and fertilising easy and efficient.

Its comparison to vehicles from the iconic 1979 Australian film comes from its durability, but the Orchard Cab also has a number of features designed for comfort, safety and smoothness.

The tractor’s overall height is just 7ft (2.1m), which was designed specifically for almonds but its low profile allows it to work in most orchards without damaging fruit or tree limbs.

Despite the low profile, operator comfort has been carefully thought out.

Large doors, ergonomic control layout, cab pressuriser and a climate control system are all present, while recessed windows provide a 360 degree view and smooth exterior surface.

Other important features include an integrated rollover protection structure, solar-tinted toughened laminated safety glass, heavy-duty all-steel orchard fenders, interior dome light and an additional 49L fuel tank.

An ergonomic control layout is one of the features designed to increase comfort in the new Case IH Farmall C 115hp Orchard Cab.

While brand new to the market, a road trip during 2020 certainly built plenty of hype around the Orchard Cab – in addition to creating that Mad Max nickname.

The road trip from Mildura to Bundaberg featured a series of customer demonstration days, while it was also showcased at Queensland’s Farm Fantastic field days and spent several weeks at a Case IH dealership in the same state.

That dealership was TMI, at Nambour on the Sunshine Coast, and TMI co-owner Shane Green said the tractor had plenty of admirers at both Farm Fantastic and during the demonstration days the dealership had organised.

“We’ve got a lot of macadamia farms around our region, and a couple of these farmers were really keen on what the orchard cab tractor could do and the benefits of having one as part of their operations,” he said.

“In our area, there’s also a lot of potential for persimmons and limes too.”

The Case IH Farmall C Orchard Cab tractor is now available to order, and has a 105hp model in addition to the 115hp model.
