Digga Australia has released a hydraulic heavy-duty rotary axe with capabilities not previously seen in the Australian market
The Digga Ground Shark is a hydraulically driven attachment that
is both a slasher and a mulcher. It has the unique ability to cut
trees up to 18cm in diameter and mulch material in the one pass,
making it ideal for a wide range of ground clearing tasks in a
variety of terrains.
“With the Australian summer, and peak bushfire season
approaching, our decision to bring the Ground Shark to Australia
was based on its ability to take on a multitude of land clearing
tasks. It’s suitable for anything from clearing fire trails to
clearing land for commercial, residential and infrastructure
related projects making it ideal for local councils and
construction companies alike,” Digga Australia’s Marketing Manager,
Lionel Smitka says.
Weighing in at 911kg, the Ground Shark is powered by a durable,
direct drive motor. It’s suitable for use on skid steer loaders
fitted with a Multifit (Universal) attachment mounting, with a
1-tonne lift capacity and a hydraulic capacity ranging from 115
litres to 170 litres per minute.
It is capable at working at pressures of up to 275 BAR and is
fitted with an easy to read pressure gauge to enable operators to
monitor machine performance from the cab.
The Ground Shark’s cutting performance comes from an innovative
design feature which sees the front of the attachment folding
upwards when it comes up against a tree, exposing the blades
further. The blades themselves are designed with the sharp edges
alternating between top and bottom, which provides an Axe like
cutting action to chop through trees up to 18cm in diameter.
“The four 1.9cm hardened steel blades rotate and swing back like
the blades on a standard rotary cutter, additionally, the underside
of the cutter wheel, uses the same carbide teeth as featured on the
Digga Stump Grinders. Not only can it cut tree trunks down, but it
also grinds the stumps down to as low as 1cm above ground level,”
Smitka says.
To keep the steel deck clear of debris, the Rotary Axe has been
designed with a high quality powder coat finish.
“This makes it easier to clean the attachment following
operations, reducing the need for time consuming maintenance in
between cutting operations.”
Stability when working on inclines is assured, again thanks to
the design of the attachment.
“Its heavy-duty construction provides a low centre of gravity,
making the Ground Shark stable even when working on steep
slopes.”
To ensure optimum operation, Digga Australia advises operators
to check that the attachment meets the specifications of their
skid-steer prior to operations.
