AGCO brand Challenger has unveiled its next-generation MT700 series of track tractors
In typical Challenger yellow, the new MT700 series is designed to deliver a new level of track tractor performance, ride comfort, operating efficiency and on-board intelligence for farmer profitability and productivity, the company says.
The new MT700 series comes packed with a range of fresh features such as a new engine, cab, transmission, undercarriage and hydraulics.
“Today’s producers demand more than just power and floatation from their track tractors,” AGCO product manager Tim Oldaker says. “Challenger continues to deliver production-enhancing features and onboard technologies that help producers better manage their farming businesses and increase profitability.”
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Engine-wise, the Challenger MT700 series is equipped with AGCO Power 9.8L Tier 3 diesel engines ranging between 380-431hp with concentric air systems (CAS).
The AccuDrive powertrain and Accu-VT continuously variable transmission allow the Challenger MT700 series tractors to run in the maximum torque range while delivering low fuel consumption to help increase productivity and reduce costs.
HYDRAULICS
All systems, including the hydraulics and PTO are designed to run at lower engine rpm, to further lower fuel costs and reduce engine wear.
The upgraded hydraulic system offers greater flow at lower engine rpm and the capabilities to meet the demands of the latest planters and implements.
Now instead of running at full throttle to meet the hydraulic needs, the AccuDrive system allows full output at 1,700 rpm. Not only does this allow for the tractor to run in the peak torque range of 1,200-1,600 rpm but it does so more efficiently with less engine wear and also results in a quieter working environment for the operator.
THE CAB & TECH
Operators will notice the new fit and finish of the latest MT700. Inside the cab is the new 10.4-inch touch screen AccuTerminal, which allows the operator to manage all tractor settings.
“Operators can also monitor and control all ISOBUS 11783 compatible implements, camera function, field documentation, variable-rate applications, guidance and wireless data transfer, and the AccuField Command headland management system,” AGCO says.
The Advantage armrest, AccuTerminal, Advantage joystick, PTO controls and conveniently located colour-coded keypad are all within easy reach of the operator’s fingertips.
A new LED light package adds more lights at the rear of the tractor, positioned to provide a clear view to each end of a planter, for example, for those late nights in the field. When leaving the field after a long day, porch lighting on the cab provides a safe view of the area, and then the smart-battery disconnects power for the night
On the outside, the new MT700 incorporates a unique walk around platform for providing secure and fast access to cleaning windows not equipped with the side-washer/wiper system as well as enhanced cab suspension, an air-ride seat and a larger instructor seat.
In addition, these three new models easily connect with AGCO’s entire suite of Fuse Technologies and Fuse Connected Services for the latest in guidance, precision farming and remote monitoring technology.
Operators can drive reliably and accurately in the toughest of visual conditions with AGCO’s next generation of Auto-Guide automated steering system. Customers may select the accuracy level and signal source to meet their specific needs, choosing from two receiver providers: Novatel and Trimble. A number of correction signals are supported, depending on the receiver. These guidance options are part of AGCO’s Fuse Technologies.|
RIDE COMFORT
Challenger’s patented MTS is renowned for delivering power to the ground, setting the MT700 Series apart from any other tractors in the industry and delivering significant advantages over bolt-on track systems and an enhanced design offers even more benefits.
“Operators are going to notice a significant difference in the ride comfort – one they won’t find on any other track tractor,” Oldaker says.
The Challenger MT700 series is the first two-track machine with three stages of suspension and oscillating mid-wheels that precisely contour to the ground over terraces and uneven surfaces.
“The MaxxRide integrated comfort system consists of the oscillating mid-wheels, hard-bar suspension and cab suspension, so operators experience great ride quality without sacrificing the in-field benefits of power, control and traction,” Oldaker says.
“Handling at higher road speeds has also been improved, and ride comfort when travelling on the road is noticeably better than previous models.”
The MT700’s primary suspension has received a redesign, with rugged coil springs and high-capacity shock absorbers for a more comfortable ride, compared to hydro-pneumatic suspension systems. Off-road style, heavy-duty shock absorbers provide precisely tuned digressive damping.
“The MobilTrac System has also been redesigned by moving the hardbar further forward, providing a longer wheelbase and more stability,” AGCO says. “The steel hardbar acts as a front axle, attaching to the forward point of the roller frame and providing up to 11-degrees of oscillation, to improve ride and maximise compaction.”
Operators can also drive reliably and accurately in the toughest of visual conditions thanks to AGCO’s next generation Auto-Guide automated steering system.
“The Challenger MT700 is a complete package delivering the efficiency of the AccuEngineering platform, combined with a redesigned MobilTrac System (MTS) and integrated with the latest in precision farming technology,” AGCO adds.
