Deutz-Fahr’s new range of four-cylinder tractors is impressing on the productivity front, and its proven reliability is impressing many users
Covering the coastal centres of Innisfail, Cardwell and Tully in Far North Queensland, the works staff of the Cassowary Coast Regional Council are slashing grass all the year around.
So when it came time to upgrade the council’s tractors after nine years, CCRC Fleet manager Adrian Stitt says first-hand recommendations regarding performance was a major consideration in their research before any decision was made.
Fuel economy was also a big factor in the decision to ultimately purchase two Deutz-Fahr Powershift 6130 models from local dealers Spearman Diesel.
“Our team talked to local farmers, including those who already use this tractor in their paddocks, and got on-the-ground feedback about efficiency and reliability,” Stitt says.
“The computerised technology in these machines means the operators can see as they are working just how much fuel economy they are getting and can adjust settings and techniques to suit the situation, rather than waiting to refuel to calculate how much fuel they had used.
“Feedback from the operators is that there are good safety features too, including an all-wheel braking system,” he says.
The CCRC is one of many groups to praise what the new Deutz 6 series four-cylinder range brings to the mid-range tractor market.
The 126 horsepower (94kW) 6130 and 136hp (101kW) 6140 four-cylinder high spec tractors are available with a Powershift transmission or TTV infinitely variable transmission.
A high-capacity load-sensing closed centre hydraulic system delivering 120L/min comes as standard, providing more flow capacity to implements whilst reducing fuel consumption, while a longer wheelbase with a redesigned axle and heavier build give the models better traction and stability.
The 6130 Powershift model has 17 working speeds between 5–20km/h, speed matching, auto powershifting and five-speed “sense clutch” shuttle modulation.
Other popular features are standard cab suspension and standard SDD rapid steering, which halves the number of turns of the steering wheel to make manoeuvring more efficient.
Deutz-Fahr’s Stop&Go function also allows an operator to disconnect the drive by simply applying the brake pedal, which is very useful for repetitive loader operations, and makes driving them as simple as operating an automatic vehicle.
Deutz-Fahr product manager Anthony Darveniza said the new 6 Series four-cylinder range was meeting a real need for a heavier mid-range tractor.
“The 3.8-litre FARMotion turbo-intercooled, electronically controlled common rail engines and coordinated transmission systems give a much more efficient, powerful performance with lower running costs, meeting Tier 3 emissions compliance without the need for ADBlue and DPF,” he says.
“You get the best technology mix in its class along with Deutz-Fahr comfort and reliability, making your working day easier, safer and far more productive.”
