China and America ATV sales winners, Japanese dominate motorcycles

National sales figures for 2012, released by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries, show that China and America are the movers and shakers in the working ATV market, while Japan continues to dominate farm bikes.

Honda’s TRX250 in fact led the ATV figures, followed by Yamaha’s
YFM90, but both are leisure/sports types.

When it comes to working models, Chinese maker CF Moto nearly
tripled its sales (to 809) for the CF500.

Polaris from the USA came next with the Sportsman 550 XP on 759
units.

The top Japanese model was the Honda TRX420TM with 717
sales.

While ATVs dominate the working market, dedicated farm bikes
still have an audience. Honda’s CTX 200 sold 666 units, followed by
Suzuki’s DR200SE with 651 sales.
