Toro’s Senior Sales Manager –Construction Equipment, Sally Wade, says the fully hydraulic operation of the machine means there is no chance of expensive belts breaking or slipping and no tension adjustments have to be made.
“There is also no worry of engaging the grinder head at full throttle,” she says.
“The new Inteli Sweep feature automatically slows the sweep speed of the cutting head, based on the load of the wheel, so heavy cutting loads won’t bog down the engine.
“While some dedicated stump grinders are complicated to use, the STX-38 model features Toro’s patented TX-Style control system with two user-friendly levers to operate all traction and grinding functions.
An armrest near the joystick also reduces operator fatigue. “The STX-38 stump grinder has tracks instead of wheels, which provide a large footprint, low centre of gravity and exceptional stability.
“The machine can be operated in wet, muddy, hilly and soft terrain and tyre ruts and flat tyres are eliminated.The track design climbs curbs and allows for zero turn capability.
“By combining the track system with a powerful 38hp Kohler air-cooled petrol engine, the stump grinder can also travel very quickly at speeds up to 7.2km/h.”
The STX-38 stump grinder has a large 56.5cm-diameter cutting wheel, a cutting depth of 45.7cm below grade and a cutting height of 88.9cm above grade. Being only 86.4cm wide the machine will easily fit through most gates.
Toro stump grinders all come with a two year, 1,000-hour commercial warranty. “This can be extended to five years and 5,000 hours by purchasing ‘Toro Protection Plus’.
