Spraying and spreading equipment specialist Silvan has added a new 1000-litre compact sprayer to its existing range that is especially designed for narrow row applications.
The new Trailed Compact Supaflo sprayer has a maximum width of 1.1 metres and has a specially designed 1000-litre capacity Polytuff impact resistant polyurethane tank.
Silvan’s Product Manager Gavin Wheatcroft says the new model was a result of continuous demand for a power take off trailed high-tech spray unit that addresses the narrow row spacings used by many boutique vineyards, all types of berry growers and trellis tomato producers.
“Our products development and engineering team at Silvan Australia accepted the challenge to create a solution and the Compact Supaflo is a very pragmatic spraying advance for these type of enterprises,” he says.
The new model comes with a 700mm diameter adjustable pitch axial flow fan with eight curved nylon reinforced blades and a protective mesh cover.
An 80-litre fresh water flush tank allows operators to flush the pump, filters, spray lines and nozzles. The unit also includes a 15-litre hand wash tank for operator health management.
The sprayer pump is a Silvan IDS960 oil-backed diaphragm pump with a 96 litre per minute, 50 bar capacity; with agitation of the spray compound also provided by the pump bypass and venturi agitator.
The Compact Supaflo is designed to be used with a 40 horsepower tractor.
The control system employs 40 bar electronic section valves, master valves, and electric pressure adjustment with an in tractor cabin control box and a 0-50 bar pressure agitator.
The complete unit is carried on a galvanised steel chassis with a jockey wheel and adjustable drawbar with 15 inch rims and tubeless tyres.
Whatcroft says Silvan has incorporated a range of leading edge features from its popular 2000 litre and 4000 litre Silvan Supaflo sprayers into the new Compact Supaflo.
“Silvan has previewed the new Compact Supaflo 1000-litre trailed sprayer at a number of industry open days and on-farm demonstrations in numerous horticultural and viticultural districts to receive an outstanding practical response for its fitness for purpose from growers,” he says.
